First Hunt Foundation

Ever Since my first upland hunt I’ve been hooked on dogs and birds. It’s been my goal since to get more people out in the field and share the bond that the field creates. I love the camaraderie that the field brings; the banter on missed shots and the high fives on nearly impossible shots. It’s more than the hunt…it’s the people, memories and being outside.
In the past few years I have had the joy of taking my friends on some pheasant hunts, and now they are hooked. They got their own dogs and we now share the same passion for the upland. Last year I had a very special opportunity of taking my mom on her first ever upland hunt. She got a bird which was sweet to see her excitement. You are never too old or too young to start.

The upland field is something we do as a family. We bring our young kids and they enjoy it as much as we do. They each have their own vests and get to call their dog in for a handoff of the bird. We keep them involved and talk about the dogs and nature as we go. This “field” unites us.

The First Hunt Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps get new hunters out in the woods or fields. It is based out of Idaho but rapidly growing throughout the USA. I am proud to be a chapter president here in Central Wisconsin to represent such a unique club.
